our

ACCESSIBILITY

Coily is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe great hair care should be available to all, and so should the experience of shopping for it.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive needs.

What we’ve done

  • Screen readers and braille displays: our pages use semantic HTML and ARIA labels, so assistive technologies can announce content, forms, and product information clearly.
  • Keyboard navigation:every interactive element — links, buttons, form fields, the cart drawer — is reachable and usable with a keyboard. A “Skip to main content” link lets keyboard users jump past the navigation.
  • Images: product photography and illustrations include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked so screen readers can skip them.
  • Forms: every input on the checkout, login, and review forms has an associated label that screen readers announce. Errors are linked to the relevant field and read aloud as they appear.
  • Colour and contrast: our text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. We never rely on colour alone to convey information — icons, text, and position back it up.
  • Reduced motion: if your device requests reduced motion, we disable non-essential animations.
  • Zoom and resize: the site reflows cleanly when text is enlarged up to 200% and works on small screens.

Where we’re still working

Accessibility is ongoing work. We have not yet had the site independently audited, and there will be areas we can improve. If something on the site is hard to use with your assistive technology, please tell us — your feedback directly shapes what we fix next.

Compatible technologies

The site is designed to work with recent versions of:

  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack on Android
  • NVDA and JAWS on Windows
  • Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile

Braille displays connected through any of the screen readers above will receive the same content as audio output.

Report an accessibility issue

If you run into a barrier on this site, please email us at shop@coily.co.za. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use if you’re comfortable sharing. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
